Years Produced: 1953 – 1958 Length: 7 1/4” Weight: Approx. 2.5 oz.
General Notes: This giant size Surfster was discontinued due to a shortage of White Cedar in the late 1950’s. It was much more cost efficient for CCBCO to make several smaller baits with the same amount of wood. This series reappeared in 1964 only, perhaps to clear out old stock. Uses the same cupped lip as the #7300 series Surfster but larger treble hooks. A bait this size definitely needs the through-wire rigging, which it has. Creek Chub noted in their catalog “pure dynamite on those bigger salt water fish”.
of Pictured Lure:
#7435 in Purple Eel. This color produced from 1953-1958. Has yellow shading around the glass eyes; two big screws holding the lip & huge treble hooks. “Creek Chub Surfster” gold imprinted on its back. One of the largest baits in the classic original series although later outdone by the Giant Pikie series.
